How to Enable Hotlink Protection in Cloudflare

Hotlink protection prevents other websites from embedding or linking to your site’s assets (such as images or videos) without permission, which conserves bandwidth and improves site performance. Here’s how you can enable hotlink protection in Cloudflare:

Step 1: Log in to Your Cloudflare Account

Access your Cloudflare account by logging in at https://dash.cloudflare.com/.

Step 2: Select Your Domain

On the Cloudflare dashboard, locate the list of domains under Your Sites. Click on the domain for which you want to enable hotlink protection.

Step 3: Go to the Scrape Shield Section

Once inside your domain settings, navigate to the Scrape Shield tab, which is located in the left-hand sidebar. This section includes various tools for protecting your content from unauthorized access.

Step 4: Enable Hotlink Protection

In the Scrape Shield section, locate the Hotlink Protection toggle. Turn this option ON by clicking the toggle switch.

Step 5: Confirm Hotlink Protection Is Enabled

After enabling the toggle, hotlink protection is now active for your domain. This setting will block requests from other sites attempting to display your images and media files, helping you conserve bandwidth.

With hotlink protection enabled, your content will only be accessible to visitors directly accessing your website, ensuring your resources are used efficiently and securely.
