How to Change the Root Password in WHM

Changing the root password in WHM (Web Host Manager) is essential for security maintenance. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you reset the root password.


Step 1: Log in to WHM

  • Start by logging in to your WHM account using your current root credentials.

Step 2: Access the “Change Root Password” Option

  • In the WHM dashboard, locate the Search bar on the left side of the screen.
  • Type Change Root Password to quickly find the option in the menu.

Step 3: Open the “Change Root Password” Section

  • Click on Change Root Password under the Server Configuration section.

Step 4: Enter the New Password

  • In the New Password field, type your desired password. Re-enter the same password in the Confirm New Password field.
  • Ensure the password is strong, using a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.

Step 5: Use the Password Generator (Optional)

  • For added security, you can use the built-in Password Generator to create a strong, random password.
  • If using the generator, remember to copy and save the password in a secure location.

Step 6: Change the Password

  • Once you’ve entered the new password, click Change Password to update the root password.

Step 7: Confirmation

  • After the change is successful, a confirmation message will appear indicating the root password has been updated.

That’s it! Your WHM root password is now changed, ensuring improved security for your server.
