How to Enable cPHulk Brute Force Protection in WHM

cPHulk Brute Force Protection is a security feature in WHM that helps protect your server from brute-force attacks by blocking malicious login attempts. Follow these steps to enable it and keep your server secure.


Step 1: Log in to WHM

  • Start by logging in to your WHM (Web Host Manager) account.

Step 2: Search for cPHulk

  • In the WHM dashboard, go to the Search bar on the left side of the screen.
  • Type cPHulk to locate the Brute Force Protection tool.

Step 3: Open cPHulk Brute Force Protection

  • Click on cPHulk Brute Force Protection under the Security Center section.

Step 4: Enable cPHulk Protection

  • On the cPHulk settings page, find the option labeled Enable cPHulk.
  • Click the checkbox to enable cPHulk Brute Force Protection.

Step 5: Configure cPHulk Settings

  • Customize your cPHulk settings based on your security needs. Options include:
    • Login History Size: Defines the number of login attempts to track.
    • IP-based Protection: Blocks or allows login attempts based on IP addresses.
    • Username-based Protection: Blocks or allows attempts based on usernames.

Step 6: Save Settings

  • Once you have configured your desired settings, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
  • A confirmation message will appear to indicate that cPHulk has been enabled and configured.

Step 7: Monitor cPHulk Logs (Optional)

  • To review recent blocked attempts and other activity, click on cPHulk Reports. This will provide details on IP addresses and usernames involved in failed login attempts.

By enabling cPHulk Brute Force Protection in WHM, you’re adding a critical layer of security to protect your server from unauthorized access attempts.
